The San Diego Police Department in California released camera footage showing officers attacking an alleged sexual assault suspect on July 7. When officers arrived at the scene of an alleged sexual assault connection, the suspect allegedly took a knife when the officers approached him. A foot chase began when the suspect fled after officers pursued him. During the chase, officers shot the suspect and mistook him after he pulled out his phone, which was wrongly thought to be a pistol. In the end, the officers arrested the suspect and detained him. The man was treated for minor injuries before being booked into the San Diego Central Jail on two counts of assault.
