American superhero movie Samaritan was released in 2022 and was written and directed by Julius Avery. Schut. Described as a dark new story for superhero films, the story was previously adapted[a] into Mythos Comics graphic novels by Schott, Mark Olyvent and Renzo Podesta. Balboa Productions and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer collaborated in its production. The movie stars Sylvester Stallone, Javon “Wanna” Walton, Bello Aspic, Dasha Polanco, and Moses Arias. The story follows a child who secretly suspects his neighbor of being a superhero who is believed to have died many years ago.
Samaritan was released on August 26, 2022 by United Artists Releasing and Amazon Studios via Prime Video stream. The film received mixed reviews from critics.
Story Summary
Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor, Mr. Smith, is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty-five years ago, it was reported that Samaritan, the extremely powerful guard of Granite City, had died after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival Nemesis. Most believe he died in the fire, but some, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime now increasing, Sam has made it his mission to convince Samaritan to come out of his hiding to save the city from ruin.
